PDF file - The most heinous crime against children!
The NSPCC reports that 1 in 20 children has been sexually abused in the UK. That’s at least 1-2 children in each classroom, with most of the victims being targeted by someone they know.
According to the Office for National Statistics’ Crime Survey for England and Wales, Children make up only 20% of the population but are the victims in 40% of all sexual offences. The scale of child sexual abuse is truly staggering!
It estimates there are up to 840,000 offenders who pose some degree of sexual risk to children, and there are 400,000 searches for online child sexual abuse material every month in the UK alone - this is unacceptable!
There is a huge amount of pain and suffering caused to victims and survivors of child sexual abuse, and a failure of institutions to prioritise the protection of children!

‘Trash bags’ Life in Fostercare
Many children who live in foster care move several times throughout their placements, and they do not have bags; they put their belongings in ‘Trash’ bags. This implies that they are ‘disposable’ and considered rubbish. They often lack the stability of a home.
This is a topic close to my heart. Here are my children modeling.

The weight upon my shoulders
I made this headpiece in 2007 for my Fine Art studies, representing ‘the weight upon my shoulders’. Although I couldn’t find enough keys or locks, which represented ‘Secrets’, that could weigh you down. I photographed Bryony in the headdress in 2014.
