Scottish highlands (Inverness area) May 2024

Day 1: Stayed in Dundee the previous night, and went to Perth today to see family, before driving up to our cottage. We did a food shop at the nearest town, and then had a little wander through the village, because it’s so pretty.

Day 2: Black Rock - Took a couple of mile hike and the kids burnt some energy on the adventure wooden play park. Absolutely beautiful views, and we drank some river water, because we're one with nature lol The route was an old one, with some old bridges, with history.

Day 3: Drove through crazy tick fog for 2 and a half hours to John o’ Grotes (Because we visited Lands End the previous year, and now we have visited both ends of the UK). Much less commercial, it was a shame that we had bad weather that day.

Day 4: First, we stopped at Clouties (cloth) Well, where it's believed that if you tie cloth around the well, it gives you good luck. Then to Chanonry point to try and see if we could see any dolphins, no luck. Finally had a 3-mile walk to go see the Fairy Glen waterfall, and then to the beach at Rosemarkie and had sandwiches and cake at a lovely little cafe, which had amazing customer service!

Day 5: Visited Loch Ness at Droes beach where we had a little paddle, skipped stones, and had a little play at the park. Then drove into Inverness, ate at Cayoye Burger, visited the Leaky bookshop, a second-hand vintage bookshop, and did a bit of shopping.

Day 6: We stayed in Straphangers and walked up the hill to a 1994 art installation, 'The Touchstone Rocks,' which was a labyrinth, and pretty cool. Then to the village to have a lovely tea at the station and look around the children's museum.

Day 7: Went to Loch Ness again and went to Nessie land and rode the Nessie hunter, in which my son got to drive the boat!! Before stopping off at The Station for a lovely meal at Fort William, and going home.

Stranraer, 2020

Visited Stangear with a former partner in September 2020.

We visited: The town of Portpatrick (Which was lovely and had a meal)

Then a drive to the lowest part of Scotland to the Mull of Galloway lighthouse - free entry. This is a lovely little spot. I don’t recommend climbing down the cliff, because you have to climb back up again!

Shapp Abby (Free entry) Some ruins, which were interesting.
