World Travel: Places I’ve visited in the USA
Florida (October/November 2022) Honeymoon
I had a DREAM honeymoon! Starting with a flight to Dublin, spending the day there, then flying to Miami (on the night flight), and driving down to Fort Lauderdale, where we stayed in an Airbnb. My husband has a friend in Fort Lauderdale, so we also got to see him. We also took a flight up to New York City for the day! We saw his brother, my distant cousin and old friend, who moved to NYC. It was a busy, very hot trip, but an incredible experience because I have always wanted to go to the USA.
Places visited:
Fort Lauderdale: Walked to the beach and saw a selfie posing pelican lol. We also popped into a photography gallery, which was incredible!
Flamingo Gardens (This place was fun and had some activities for the kids)
Everglades today to see the 'gators' on an airboat.
Visited a nearby town, Hollywood Blvd, and went to Nick's bar (Where the Marley and Me scene was filmed), walked down the boardwalk,
Morkikami Japanese gardens (Which is truly beautiful!)
Light house point (Hillsborough inlet). We saw this at night.
We took a drive down to the Lasgo Keys.
Miami: Day trip
Day trip in Miami, and we visited the Frost Science Museum (This place in Miami was excellent, a planetarium, an aquarium, and a science museum!) We also visited the Perez Art Museum and walked through the Wynwood art district, which was incredible! and popped into the Museum of Graffiti in Wynwood.
New York City Day trip to NYC: But we saw a lot!
The World Trade Center memorial garden fountains. We visited Tower One (Our tour was moving, learning history, and seeing NYC from a height -102 floors. You can see the Statue of Liberty from Eli's Island and see the fountain memorials from the twin towers down below. We saw the sun setting; it was beautiful, but we didn't see the museum.) Ate at Rosemary East with my cousin.
Walked around Central Park (In the fall, it’s so pretty, and I was excited to see an Alice in Wonderland statue. I also Saw BLACK squirrels...Talking about squirrels, I kept getting excited to see them and wanted to take photos, while my husband was dragging me away, 'because we have squirrels in England ' but, ya know, these are American squirrels lol)
Stopped by Times Square and visited Central Station.
American family holiday: August 2023 - Florida, Orlando Universal Studios, and NYC.
Our crazy itinerary: NYC
Caught the train to Manhattan (from Jersey), went to Macy's, and went on wooden escalators!
Walked the High Line (An old railroad that has been turned into a park walk)
My son played chess in Bryant Park with a stranger(who was so lovely and calm with him)
Went to Central Park (We got hot dogs from a street vendor! and saw the iconic Alice in Wonderland statue, plus squirrels -I do love squirrels)
The kids had their first sushi at a Japanese restaurant.
New York Public Library (where the Day After Tomorrow movie was filmed)
Central station (in a lot of movies and music videos)
Had lunch with my husband’s brother and wife, then caught a yellow cab,
The colour factory (This place was epic! Cost me £217 for the four of us, but worth it)
Sea Glass Carousel at Battery park- Lower Manhattan (5 dollars each, but this was cute and had magical music)
We went on the Staten Island ferry and went past Ellis Island and saw the Statue of Liberty (This commuter ferry is free)
Twin Towers memorial and One World Observatory.
The American dream (One of America’s biggest malls) and introducing the kids to Peruvian food.
My daughter had her very first concert at the MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey NYC - Seeing Blackpink, their "Born Pink' tour.
Urban Air Park (Kids loved this place)
Walked the Brooklyn Bridge and went to Dumbo and the pebble beach.
