Planning your beauty treatments for your wedding day

3 Makeup Tips

Your wedding makeup is an important part of wedding planning. After all, you want to look your best on your big day! Here are my top tips to help you plan your wedding makeup trial:

1. Schedule your wedding makeup trial well in advance of the big day. This will allow you plenty of time to try different looks and find the one that is perfect for you.

2. Bring photos of your wedding dress, veil, and jewelry. This will help your makeup artist create a look that compliments your overall wedding style.

3. Be open to trying new things. It can be tempting to stick with what you know, but this is a great opportunity to experiment with different looks. who knows, you may just find your new signature style!

Most importantly, have fun! The wedding make-up trial is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy some pampering before the big day. Sit back, relax, and let your makeup artist work their magic!

Hair Tips

Turn up to your bridal hair trial prepared to not only get a feel for what it will be like but also for an important and honest opinion from someone you trust.

And finally, take a photograph of your dress and show your hairstylist - they'll need to know what neckline it has and be able to give you some inspiration and advice on how to accentuate your dress details.

If you wish to enhance a particular feature such as your décolletage or wish to wear your hair in a particular way let your stylist know. They'll have loads of experience and knowledge to draw upon.

Preparing your skin

Here are my top tips for making sure you have flawless skin on your wedding day whether you are the wedding couple, in the bridal party or heading to a few weddings this season.

Tip Two

Take a few minutes each day to massage your face. This not only increases blood flow but also is great for keeping your skin looking younger & firmer. You could do this just after you cleanse in the morning & tie in some mindfulness too.

Tip Three

Exfoliation is a great way to keep your skin looking bright & healthy. Applying a scrub is a great way to exfoliate skin extra thoroughly. We'd recommend exfoliating your skin 2-3 times a week to get the best results.

Tip Four

Plenty of sleep and drinking lots of water are the most natural ways to get healthy and flawless skin. Try to drink a minimum of three to four liters of water per day. Water flushes out toxins from your body, hydrates the skin and body from within, and gives a natural healthy glow to your face.

Choosing your perfume

Studies have shown that scents can evoke memories, transporting us back to the time and place of the original experience. How amazing is that?

One of the tips we share with our couples is to choose a new fragrance for your wedding day. Every time you wear this again, you'll be reminded of your special day.

If you are choosing a new fragrance take inspiration from the perfumes or aftershave you have worn before. With connotations of love, romance, and femininity, light and floral scents are a great choice for your wedding day.

Wear a couple of different scents in the run-up to the big day to see which ones your partner likes best. You will want him to like the fragrance too. This will also give you the chance to make sure that your perfume and his aftershave marry well together.

When to book your makeup trial?

Book your makeup trial for the morning time so that you can see how it lasts throughout the day and whether you need to tweak anything and how it will last,.

You can even book it on a family or friends event, so you can have a 2-in-1! Look great for your event and see how your makeup lasts through to the evening!

I hope that these tips help you.

How to plan your wedding outfits

Your wedding dress:

It's THE dress that you have probably been dreaming of since you were proposed to...

Firstly, consider who you'd like to bring to your appointment. It can be tempting to bring lots of your friends and family with you, whether it's to make them feel included, or because they're part of your wedding party. But just bring a couple, because it's YOUR dress and choose people you trust. Bringing the tribe you may not be able to hear yourself think! If your bride squad want to get involved why not bring them along to a dress fitting AFTER you have found the perfect one to help choose a veil and accessories.

Next, wear the right lingerie.

Now is not the time to wear the pants from the bottom of your drawer where the elastic has gone on. Make sure your underwear is as close to the undies you’ll be wearing on the big day as possible, as this will affect how a dress sits on top. Neon lingerie and black underwear are a bad idea! Think neutral and, if you’d feel more confident, shape supporting. If you’re not wearing a strapless bra, you might want to take one with you just in case the dress you fall in love with needs more invisible support.

Finally, think about your wedding location.

Where and when are you getting married? How long are you wearing your dress for? Will you be in a mixture of environments or just staying in one place? All of these things will influence the dress you need - do you need to walk over grass and get muddy, are you wanting to dance, so you need to be able to move freely? Will you need help to go to the bathroom if the train is long?

Delivery: Wedding dresses can typically take between 4 and 9 months to arrive in store once ordered due to Brexit, consider a month or so for any alterations you need.

So, start wedding dress shopping nice and early., even if you know you'll be quick to make a decision make sure you get that order in on time as you don't want to be disappointed!

Types of dresses:

Ball Gown:

The most distinguishing trait of a ballgown wedding dress is its very full skirt. The silhouette also has a fitted bodice and is cinched at the natural waist. Best for brides with boyish figures as the fullness of the dress will make you look curvier.

Sheath:

This form-fitting style follows the body’s natural line and does not flare out. Ideal for petite women as the slim shape adds length. This silhouette looks great on brides with sleek figures.

Which style do you prefer?

Keep an Open Mind! You may have a specific idea of what you want in a dress, but be willing to try on different styles. You may be surprised by how much you like a gown that's outside of your comfort zone.

Don't hesitate to ask for help. The sales staff at your favourite bridal store will be more than happy to offer their expert opinion.

There's no rule that says you have to wear heels to a wedding! But if you are a heels kind of bride make sure you take a pair with a similar heel height with you when you go dress shopping.

-This is so you are able to see how your dress will hang and have an accurate idea of how much the dress will need altering. Of course, if you know you'll want flats, there's no need to take a pair of shoes but let your assistant know so that they are able to advise on any alterations that will need to be made to your dress length.

-If you want to go for flats on your wedding day, choose a bedazzled pair that glitters and still looks fancy and dressed up for a night.

Hiring your wedding outfits:
You can save money by hiring out your outfit, especially if you are not going to wear it again!

-it's important to get the measurements at least 2 months before your wedding day and then a final fitting 1-2 weeks before your wedding.

-Get a member of the bridal party to gather the outfits after the wedding and make sure that everything is all in order, that they are washed and pockets are empty!

-As children grow so rapidly, they may need measuring one month prior to your wedding day.

With so much focus on the dress, the venue and the flowers, choosing the groom’s suit can perhaps get forgotten in the wedding planning process! It may appear a simple task but there’s a lot of things to consider, plus the wedding suits will be a major feature in your pictures so it’s important to get it right!

Make sure you do your research. Take a look at Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram – they are great places to start when thinking about your wedding suit. Also, don’t forget to check out your venue and photographers on social media for inspiration. Make sure whatever you choose compliments the bridesmaid’s dresses whether it's the suit colour or keeping a pop of colour to the chosen neckwear and pocket square.

-If you’re planning on hiring your wedding suits, we’d suggest starting the process 12 to 6 months before your wedding date. A lot of advice online suggests to start planning suits around the 3 months before the date mark. However, this doesn't leave a lot of time to find your chosen suit company and with a lot of lockdown wedding rearrangements to consider - it's best to book early and secure your date.

-For those of you planning to buy your suit, we’d suggest that you start this as early as possible. A suit can be designed and delivered in 4 months, but we’d advise having your first appointment at least 6 months before so that you are able to fully enjoy the experience.

I hope that these tips help you.

5 things you’re going to want pack in your wedding day SOS kit

1) Change of shoes

Even if think you will last the day and evening in your wedding shoes, it’s best to pack a flat “just-in-case pair”.

2) Paracetamol

You can guarantee that someone in your wedding party is going to get a bit of a headache (maybe from drinks the night before).

3) Suncream (especially if you’re having an outdoor summer wedding)

Even if your wedding is largely indoors if you catch the sun easily you don’t want to look back at your photographs and think ‘If only I’d packed the sun cream!’

4) Phone charger

These can be VERY unreliable and break all the time. The last place you want this happening is on your wedding day, as you are definitely going to want to take a few selfies at the reception.

5) Mints or fresh breath spray

You may want to make sure your first kiss of married life is a pleasant one.

Keep away from strong-flavored food on the morning of your wedding and before you grace the aisle, have a quick mint or spritz your mouth with some fresh breath spray. You'll feel super confident puckering up too!

I hope that these tips help you.

Your run-up to the wedding beauty guide to help you look and feel your best on your big day

The post-engagement glow is real – you’re excited about marrying the love of your life and happiness and gorgeousness radiate from you! Fast forward 18 months of stress, chasing wedding invites, appointment after appointment after appointment and it’s safe to say you may be looking for a little help to get that glow back.

To help you avoid any last-minute fiascos I’ve put together this guide to beauty before your wedding day. From when to book in your wax to when to schedule hair appointments you’ll have every angle covered to ensure you are picture-perfect and look every part of the blushing bride.

8-10 months before the day

Hair: If you are thinking about changing your hair color or having a dramatic style change now’s the time to experiment. If you hate it – there’s still plenty of time for you to correct it or grow it out.

Skincare: Start incorporating skincare into your daily schedule. Cleanse, tone, and moisturize every single morning and night, and add in a nourishing mask and an exfoliation once a week.

Fitness: When it comes to your fitness, avoid crash diets by thinking about your fitness goals now. This way you’ll look healthy and glowing rather than exhausted for your big day. Up the fruit and vegetables for healthy-looking skin and nails.

Vitamins: Consider taking supplements for strong, healthy hair, skin, and nails before your wedding. Don’t know where to start? Have a chat with your doctor or pharmacist.

4-6 months before the day

Hair and Makeup: Book in for any hair and makeup trials. Experiment with different looks, try your hair up and down to see which you prefer, and take any hair accessories such as your veil or hairpiece to your appointment too so they can be incorporated into the style. Once you know which hairstylist and makeup artist you’d like to go with, book them early. Great hair and makeup stylists can book up months before your date – so contact them early to avoid disappointment.

Teeth Whitening: Many teeth whitening services take a couple of appointments before you get maximum results. Book your first appointment now and then use an at-home kit to keep your pearly whites nice and topped up before the day.

Consider an early hen do: Many people have breakouts or at the very least get tired, dull-looking skin if they have a heavy night on the town. Avoid any nasty breakouts and ensure your skin has time to recover from any short-term alcohol effects. Then it’s time to up the water. Ensure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water on the run-up to your wedding. Set a reminder on your phone if you need to. You’re skin and sparkly, healthy eyes will thank you for it.

1 month before the wedding

Tanning: If you are considering going with a bronzy glow before the wedding decide exactly how you are going to achieve it. You may consider using a gradual tanning moisturizer or having a professional spray tan.  Now’s the time to get comfortable with your option and have a trial run to avoid an orange look on the day.

Hair: Book in for a color refresh, trim, and hair treatment around a month before your wedding. This will ensure your hair is lovely and shiny for your wedding day.

Brows: Get your brows waxed, threaded, or shaped around 2 weeks before the wedding, and then keep on top of unruly hairs daily at home to avoid any red bumps or marks on the day.

1 week before the wedding

Wax: Book your wax around a week before your wedding so that your skin has time to heal.

Manicure/Pedicure: Book your manicure and pedicure for the week of your wedding. Use a gel polish to avoid chips and cracks on the day, you’ve probably already picked the color before now so this is one of those things you can just sit back and relax for!

Spray Tan: If you are having a spray tan book it for 2-3 days before your date so that it has time to fade and look a little more natural.

Beauty Sleep: Get a few early nights in, ensure you have lots of rest and relaxation, light a candle, spray some lavender on your pillow, and keep drinking that water!

The Wedding Day

Congratulations you made it! Now all you need to do is smile, look gorgeous, and try not to cry – but the waterproof mascara will have you covered if you do!

I hope this blog post inspires you and supports you in your wedding planning!
